Accounting Manager

This position is primarily responsible for managing certain tasks of the monthly financial statement close process ensuring accurate and timely reporting of monthly, quarterly and annual financial result for the global operations of the Company.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Initial core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  •  Immediate direct supervision over the accounts receivable team of three employees, with progression to directly overseeing the accounts payable team of five employees and general ledger team of four employees. Indirect supervision over the Revenue Analyst.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recording of all revenue transactions in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP, which includes Corporate, as well as various international subsidiaries.
  • Ensuring all terms of contract based revenues are properly accounted for on a monthly basis based on when services are provides and the Company’s obligations are fulfilled.
  • Reviewing budget to actual analyses of all contract based revenue streams on a monthly basis.
  • Managing the monthly global close process to ensure all required tasks are being performed accurately and timely in accordance with the close schedule.
  • Assisting with the integration of acquisitions to get all acquired companies onto our general ledger in a timely manner, including rolling out corporate accounting policies and processes and providing training.
  • Identifying ways to improve corporate and global processes, assisting in documenting process and exporting these processes out to our global offices, as necessary. Ensuring that controls over all financial reporting areas are adequate to prevent and detect errors.
  • Managing the audit process with the audit firm to ensure audit requests provided for are accurate and are provided for in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing audit knowledge to plan and coordinate audits of various licensing partners each year.
  • Assisting with miscellaneous projects requested by the CFO, VP Finance, VP FP&A and VP Tax and Treasury.

Education and work experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in accounting from a four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the audit practice of a big four public accounting firm
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience preferred

Skills and knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition authoritative guidance, including timing of revenue recognition and gross versus net presentation.
  • Experience working with Global companies and foreign currency.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure, while meeting all applicable deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and productively with minimum supervision, taking ownership of all tasks assigned.
