Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the month-end close process, reconciliation of general ledgers, maintenance of revenue and accounts receivable systems, maintenance of support schedules for specific accounts, management of the annual audit process, and other accounting functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares monthly financial package with narrative for management review.
  • Prepares month-end balance sheet review and reconciles any differences.
  • Prepares month-end capital cash flow and PPE statement.
  • Prepares use tax report on a monthly basis and maintains schedule of taxable use tax items.
  • Prepares accounts receivable report detailing all past dues and balancing general ledger to accounts receivable.
  • Assures the accuracy of billing and all corresponding journal entries.
  • Makes month-end standard journal entries, including amortization of all prepaid assets.
  • Reviews periodically during the month the general ledger for input accuracy and verifies that accounts have been reconciled.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding expenses, budgets, etc.
  • Audits for compliance.
  • Assists in budget preparation, input and balancing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTs:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting from an accredited institution of higher learning required; minimum of one year of accounting experience required; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including good grammar, voice and diction.
  • Strong quantitative and accounting skills.
  • Solid analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Time management skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Office tools, specifically advanced Excel skills.
  • Able to read and interpret documents and calculate figures and amounts.
